Eccentric, eclectic, diverse; deep & unforced, upbeat & free flowing, he gives himself no restrictions… no limitations. A true non-conformist…readily noted by his track selection and style of mixing.

A few short years after beginning his foray into the subterranean realms of dance music at home in Canada, he made a sudden move to Australia. Finding his feet in Melbourne, it was his weekly radio show and residencies at unique venues, combined with interstate gigs across the country that assisted him in concretely formatting his approach to music and as a direct result, his provision of sound.

Presently calling Syd-city his 2nd home, means Sydney-siders are privy to a wide array of sounds anytime they’re on the dancefloor and happen to catch him at the wheels. From well aged hip-hop, afro-beat, funk, disco & nu-disco through on up to house and the more electronic domains of tech, techno and minimal….

Each nights sound provision interspersed with many unexpected and welcomed surprises along the way! His main ethos– Dance.Dance.Dance.

DAVE FERNANDES
www.residentadvisor.net

Having Portuguese blood coursing through his veins while he’s dj’ing certainly makes things fortunate for those on the dancefloor, seeing as it’s almost inherent that he makes you shake your hips at each passing beat! And with a head full of artistically creative ideologies it only enhances things in a psychedelic fashion.

International, interstate and local supports aside, he is an eclectic phenomenon and a sound aficionado at heart; Disco, Nu-Disco, House, Techno and Minimal are all the forays of his sound. One thing can be assured, he WILL make you dance!

LONG JOHN SALIVA

(Brendan King)

www.myspace.com/longjohnsaliva

Long John is a formidable Dj if he were to be an opponent, his flawless mixing, track selection and all round musical knowledge could easily wipe out any competition. It’s no wonder he’s been chosen on innumerable occassion’s to support most of the top notch international dj’s and live acts hopping through Brisbane. Since moving to Sydney, he’s made an impressive mark on the local scene and still finds time to jet up to Bris-vegas on regular occasion…a welcome addition to the HAHA troubador sound providers list. Speaking of lists, he’s creating quite a number of re-edits and production works himself including remixes included on ministry’s recent chillout compilation, and a 12″ just pressed on local label “Future Classic” under the moniker -”The Loinbrothers” (with Silvio of Paradise Lost fame)

MODIFI

(MOD / Michael Tosetto)

www.modifi.com.au

From headlining festivals, to leaning over his laptop amid smoke and lasers at our “Under the Radar” sessions, it seems his soul reason for being is to make people go mental on the dancefloor! His own personal energy is paramount to his sets; with Tech, Techno and Minimal being his main musical passions. Making his own sounds is also nothing new, as Mike also has a number of release notches already on his belt, with one of his most recent tracks- ‘Spectrum’ (a collaboration with the local “Shades of Gray”) being pressed to vinyl in the very near future on German label ‘PLUS MINUS’. Many a party and festival have been host to his sounds including Peats Ridge Festival (multiple years), and Illumination in Cairns.

MAGDA

(Magda Bytnerowicz)

www.myspace.com/dj_mags

Yes, another femme-fatale named Magda we know. And, whilst our Mags -as she likes to be affectionately called- isn’t based in Berlin, her chosen soundscapes certainly are. She’s known for impressively weaving avante guard techno, cosmic house and deep tech together into a fine coat of late night dance dreamcoats for each and every dancer on the floor. Mags has played an impressive array of events around Syd-city and beyond as well, and if the past is anything to go by, there’s certainly nothing going to be stopping her from doing more of the same in the future.

GATTI

(Nathan Gatt)

www.myspace.com/gattmusic

The man is a builder, but one of sounds, not tactile materials (vinyl aside, of course). He truly knows how to construct a nights theme song from nothing. Moving fluidly from chill out and low slung sounds, to house, broken- beat and more. He has long since been a regular player on the HAHA stezza stacks at our local shindigs. And now, being one half of the newly formed Sydney duo “Stereo Thieves” (the quieter, more subdued one, I might add) has since seen him take a meteoric-like leap to local beat driven attention. And with a “Stereo Thieves” debut album and festival lineup additions on the not-too-far-off horizon, many many more feet will soon be dancing along to his beat!
